Preparation

While there is no specific diet for kambo, there are a few requirements and recommendations.

Absolutely no alcohol or recreational drugs for 24 hours before ceremony, and no food for ten hours beforehand. Do not over-hydrate; drink only what you need the day of ceremony as you will be required to drink two litres of water before the kambo is applied. Drinking too much water before the ceremony can lead to hyponatremia, which can be deadly.

It is recommended to take good care of yourself in the days and weeks leading up to your kambo ceremony. Eat healthy, nourishing food, and stay hydrated as you’ll need your strength for the ceremony. Think about your intentions - what is drawing you to sit with kambo? What would you like to get out of your experience?  How would you like to feel?  What would you like to heal in your body, heart, and mind?  Taking time to journal, meditate, or take a relaxing walk alone to ponder your intentions can help lend clarity to your process.

What to expect

In a group kambo will be applied one by one; each person will receive ample one on one time with me or one of my assistants to help guide them through the initial effects.

Those receiving kambo for the first time will receive a basic treatment - three to nine points on the arm or leg. Initial treatments always begin with a test point - a single dot of kambo applied to gauge the person’s reaction before moving forward with a full dose. Traditionally this would be on the left arm for men and the right ankle for women. Subsequent sessions may involve placement of the kambo points on chakras, meridians, acupuncture points, auricular (ear) points, or marma points as dictated by your individual intentions and needs. Each person will have to drink two litres of room temperature water within 15 minutes of taking kambo. The water acts as a depository for the toxins that kambo releases and gives you something to purge when the time comes.
